Winter nets in Naperville

December in Naperville is not the time to stand on a range, so for twenty years we have fitted indoors. The back room holds a net, a hitting mat and a launch monitor, and a space heater sits under the bench.
Cold changes what you can measure. Balls fly shorter, so we compare clubs against each other rather than against summer numbers. That is how we have always compared them anyway.
What you should expect
Wear what you would wear on the course. A fitting is a few dozen swings, and cold hands and a stiff back can distort the numbers. We keep the room warm but not summer-warm, so you get a fair read on how you will feel in April.
If you play in the winter, book a Thursday evening. It is the quietest time in the shop and the heater has had all day to catch up.
