Why we measure wrist to floor
· Walt Gray
Height gets you into the right zip code. Wrist-to-floor gets you to the right street address.
We ask you to stand tall in your golf shoes with arms hanging naturally and measure from the crease of the wrist to the floor. Two people of the same height can differ by two inches on this measurement, and that difference decides the starting length and lie of their irons.
What we do with it
The number goes on a simple chart, and the chart gives a starting point. We always confirm it with the lie board before we trust it, but a good starting point shortens the fitting by fifteen minutes.
If you have been told you need irons a half-inch long because you are tall, ask for the wrist number first.
